Marega (2) and Marcano were the scorers in the blue and white victory over Vitória de Guimarães (3-0), at Estádio do Dragão

This Sunday, FC Porto beat Vitória de Guimarães (3-0), at Estádio do Dragão, for matchday four of Liga NOS. Marega (14m and 90m+3) and Marcano (88m) scored for the Dragons, who reaached the third consecutive victory in the championship. The blue and whites are second in the table, with nine points, one behind Famalicão.

The clock ticked 45 seconds when Tapsoba, central defender of Vitória de Guimarães, was sent-off for tackling Marega when he was alone in front of goal. The decision made by Carlos Xistra was confirmed by the VAR and the opponent was down to ten men, still putting on a fight. But the blue and white superiority became more and more obvious and the goal came.

Corona saw Marega, the Malian forward dribbled two opponents and put it under Miguel Silva (14m). Second consecutive match with goals for the number 11, who had already scored in the classic at Estádio da Luz. Guimarães never stopped attacking, and could have tied with Rochinha, but Marchesín was huge in front of goal (18m).

Close to the break, Zé Luís could have made it 2-0, but the shot went over the bar (45m+5). Mbemba, who replaced Pepe in the first-half due to injury, had the first attempt in the second-half: after a corner-kick taken by Alex Telles, the blue and white defender jumped above everyone else, but the header didn’t go for goal (55m). And then there were two plays in the area that raised questions.

First, Marcano was hit on the face by Miguel Silva (59m), and then Luis Díaz was tackled by Sacko (68m). Carlos Xistra carried on and FC Porto kept looking for the second goal, but kept hitting the wall that was Miguel Silva. The goalkeeper, however, wasn’t effective in a shot from Luis Díaz, and the ball reached Marcano for the 2-0 (88m). The scoreboard didn’t close here, as Marega made it 3-0 (90m+3).

Everything decided at Estádio do Dragão, for the third consecutive victory, and the third without conceding.
