Goals scored by Toni Martínez and Mehdi Taremi gave the victory in Tondela (2-0), for matchday 26 of the Portuguese League

FC Porto beat Tondela (2-0) for matchday 24 of Liga NOS. Toni Martínez (18m) and Taremi (83m) scored for the blue and whites, which means FC Porto remains second in the table, with 60 points, five behind Sporting, who has still play in this matchday.

April brought the usual rain, and today was no exception, as Marchesín was doing his best at Estádio João Cardoso to drain the water from his area, while the team completely dominated Tondela in their midfield. In the first-half, the Argentinian goalkeeper did only one save, which shows the blue and white dominance, as the team did their best to break the opposing defence, positioned in front of goalkeeper Pedro Trigueira. Pepe was the one managing to break this defence with a long pass straight at Toni Martínez, who controlled the ball on his chest and shot straight for goal (18m). The Spanish forward was one of the three new faces in the starting team (along with Diogo Leite and Evanilson), as Sérgio Conceição sent him in from the start for the second time in the League, again paired up with Evanilson upfront.

Thirty minutes into the second-half, which continued to display the same dominance, balance and positioning for FC Porto, but with Tondela attempting to take more chances to tie the match, Taremi went in and scored shortly after. The Iranian forward was fast to get to a cross from Otávio (83m) and sealed the match for the Dragons, while ending his draught of eight goalless matches. With another final in the championship over, next there is a second battle to fight for in the Champions League (Tuesday, 20h, TVI/Eleven Sports), with FC Porto aiming at doing everything to turn the bad score from the first leg of the quarter-finals, against Chelsea.
