Sérgio Conceição has no doubts that the 2-0 achieved by FC Porto in Portimão is “completely fair”

FC Porto remains three points behind Benfica after beating Portimonense (2-0) on Saturday, in Algarve, for matchday 9 of the League. After the match, Sérgio Conceição admitted he didn’t like the first 15 minutes, but, after that, “we created situations to score, we got the ball in and we could have even gotten a different result”.

The resume of the match
“It was a competent match from us. We knew how important and difficult these matches are, but we continue to evolve as a team and so do the players. I’m happy for them, as we got three more points for our main objective, which is the championship. The first 15 minutes weren’t what we expected, which was a strong start. From then on, we created situations to score, we got the ball in and we could have even gotten a different result, even though Portimonense created some dangerous plays, especially in the second-half. But it’s a completely fair result.”

Portimonense
“It was a controlled match from our side, despite facing an opponent who is having their best start ever in the League and has a coach who knows this house well, along with quality players. We had to be on our toes and we could have scored the third goal. 2-0 is always a result that, in a way, doesn’t make you comfortable. We got three fundamental points for our objectives.”

The work of the forwards
“The forwards did what I asked them to do: have a strong competitive attitude and be intelligent. The opponents try to counter our collective and individual prowess, so we have to be smart.”

Mehdi Taremi
“He’s fine, but sometimes he even tries too hard.”

The numbers in the championship and the near future
“The important thing is to analyse this match, as there were things we did well and others we didn’t do so well. We think one match at a time, because we don’t play two matches at the same time.”
