Marko Grujic, Mehdi Taremi and Evanilson reacted to the victory over Paços de Ferreira (4-0)
FC Porto dominated from start to finish and beat Paços de Ferreira 4-0 at Estádio do Dragão for matchday 12 of the Portuguese League. At the end of the match, Marko Grujic explained that the “key” to the match was scoring “early” for the team to stick “to the strategy”. “Happy” with the 4-0, the Serbian midfielder assured that the team needs to “work hard to end this cycle on top”. Taremi, named MVP by the League, was happy for his “moment”, but stressed that he plays “for the team”, thanked his team mates for the help and said he is only “thinking about FC Porto”. Evanilson, “happy for the individual and team performance”, also assured that the blue and white players will “work hard” to get “another victory in the next match”.
Marko Grujic
“The key was that we scored early. Five minutes in, just like against Atlético, we scored and it was easier to stick to the strategy, we could calm down and score the second, it was a good first-half. It’s always good to play, I’m very happy, 4-0 is a good result and we have to keep working hard for the matches against Mafra and Boavista. We have to work hard to end this cycle on top. We are doing well, we beat Atlético Madrid, we ended up frustrated against Santa Clara and we said in the locker room that we had to improve.”
Mehdi Taremi
“We controlled the match from the start, we created chances and scored four goals, it was good. Each match is different and we prepare them in different ways. The most important thing was that we won. I’m very happy with my moment, but I play for the team. I want to thank my teammates for always helping me. Right now, I’m thinking about FC Porto and, when the club matches end, I’ll start thinking about the national team. The strategies here and in the national team are different, I have to be focused here for now.”
Evanilson
“We knew we had to play to win. We weren’t coming from a good result in the championship and I’m happy for the individual and team performance. It was three important points for us to stay in the fight. I already thanked him, I actually owe Pepê a dinner for that pass. I’m very happy for the goals and for helping the team to get three important points. The coach always tells us to go in strong and stay strong until the end. If we keep going, we can cause a lot of difficulties to our opponents. If we score, we can get more comfortable. That’s what happened and we got the three points. We are very happy for these two consecutive victories, but we will work hard to get another victory in the next match.”
