Eustaquio believes the group should be praised for the victory in Moreira de Cónegos (2-1)

FC Porto started the season as they wanted: the Dragons beat Moreirense in Moreira de Cónegos (2-1) and got the first three points, but had to recover from a disadvantage. Stephen Eustaquio, the MVP Liga Portugal, reminded that “these games are always difficult”, but the break made all the difference: “The coach helped us correct the mistakes during half time and we went into the second half with a different mentality. The team had great character as they went after the disadvantage and got two goals”, the Canadian international midfielder stated.

Vital to start with a victory
“We always play to win and it was very important to start with a victory, as it is going to be a long and difficult journey. These games are always difficult, especially on pitches like this. Congratulations to the group for getting the three points.”

The break did wonders
“We had to do more, because we weren't getting the spaces we wanted. The coach helped us correct mistakes during half time and we went into the second half with a different mindset. The team showed great character as we had to chase the lead and scored two goals.”

The importance of Sérgio Conceição
“He is our ultimate strength, he’s our leader. Even though he was on the outside, he was always in contact with us and helped us a lot at half time.”
