Keys of the City of Porto – 2022
FC Porto Museum collection
The Keys of the City are the highest honour awarded by Porto City Hall and they were given to FC Porto in 2022 through the hands of its president, Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa. The club, which carries the name and identity of Porto, has become one of the most successful and prestigious representatives and promoters of the city worldwide over the last 40 years.

Highest honours
Porto City Hall was the first public administrative institution to award FC Porto with a tribute medal of homage granted in 1925. Currently, that medal is part of the FC Porto Museum’s permanent exhibition, where all the high distinctions that FC Porto has received throughout history can be found. The national ones were handed by the Presidency of the Portuguese Republic and/or by the Portuguese Government and follow most of the club’s life in the last four decades. You’ll not miss the complete collection with the Tour FC Porto!
The birth of a medal
In 2022, the ceremony to present the Keys of the City took place at the Porto City Hall and during the celebrations of FC Porto’s football title in the 2021-2022 Portuguese League. In a more distant past, the club won the first ever edition of the national championship, which held in 1934-1935, and that FC Porto's success also provided recognition from the Porto City Hall: the Medal for Value in Sports – Gold Degree. This honour owns its creation to the FC Porto’s 1934-1935 national champions title, so the club was the first to get it. If you’re going on a Tour FC Porto you’ll find it at the thematic area Presidents.
