Identification document of the blue and whites was renewed following pioneering technology in Portugal

FC Porto is revolutionizing the relationship with members and the first step on this path is the replacement of the identification document of all Dragons: the member card. It is the starting point of a long process of transformation with season 2025/26 as the horizon and that positions the Club at the forefront in Portugal. The official presentation, broadcast on Porto Canal, is scheduled for noon on Thursday at the Presidential Box of Estádio do Dragão.

This substantial technological change will allow to bring the blue and white universe closer and to make members live the daily life of the Club even closely. The renewed card marks the beginning of a new era for FC Porto and plays a decisive role in the creation of the new technological ecosystem that will allow the establishment of the future relationship model between Club, members and partners.

In addition to bringing the members closer, FC Porto intends to facilitate the use of the services on matchdays and increase the convenience in the infrastructures or in the remaining moments of the daily life of any blue and white fan.

New card, new technologies

Until now, based on RFID (Mifare) and magnetic tape systems, the FC Porto member card faced limitations in terms of use that will henceforth be overcome thanks to the adoption of new technologies.

More user-friendly, the NFC technology found in the new physical and digital cards contributes decisively to the full dematerialization of ticketing in the short term in all the homes where the Club plays.

The card's new QR Code, which replaces the magnetic stripe, extends its use to a much larger universe of partners, and will allow, in the near future, for more and better benefits to members.

Gradual and phased transition

The implementation of the new card, fully developed and coordinated by the Club's services, represents an unprecedented logistical operation in the history of FC Porto.

Therefore, the entry into force of the new identification document of the Dragons - of universal and free distribution to all active members - will occur in a gradual and phased manner during a transition period designed to reduce the natural constraints caused by a process of this nature as much as possible.

The new cards will be delivered directly to the address of each member, by order of seniority, throughout the month of September. In a first phase, Diamond (75 years), Gold (50) and Silver (25) cards will be distributed. In a second phase, the remaining cards will be distributed to members affiliated for less than 25 years.

More news on the way

Blue and white members can expect other news very soon, namely a near-integral renewal of the partner network that will be able to provide them with exclusive benefits seven days a week.

Repsol gas stations will no longer accept the magnetic strip. From now on, the QR Code visible on the face of the physical card (or on the back of the digital one) will act as an interface with the future partner network.

In the coming months, a portal dedicated to members will also be launched, which will allow them to be admitted through a fully digital and automatic process. Several other features are already under development, some of which completely new, while other only exist in physical and analogue interfaces, such as the Member Store or FC Porto Stores.

New digital card in Wallet

In order to allow the adoption of NFC technology, the digital card will no longer be included in the FC Porto App and will go directly to the smartphone Wallet - which can be used offline and managed together with other documents, making life easier for members.

The FC Porto Portal and App will continue to provide all information regarding fees, Annual Seat and tickets purchased. Following what has happened since the start of the season, the members' access to the Stadium is made only through the card, and, from now on, also available in the Wallet.
