Diogo Costa sees the qualifying round open after the tie against AS Roma (1-1) at Estádio do Dragão
FC Porto and AS Roma tied 1-1 in the first leg of the qualification playoff to the Round of 16 of the Europa League, which was played at Estádio do Dragão. Fundamental in the blue and white goal, Diogo Costa stressed that everything is obtained through “training and work”, but, at the same time, “it is a matter of reading the game”. “Despite the tie, we can still go through to the knockout stage. We have another 90 minutes to reach victory”, the goalkeeper and captain of the Dragons added.
The long pass that ended in Francisco Moura's goal
“In training, I'm constantly throwing passes, it's training and work, but it's something that can come in the moment, it's a matter of reading the game. In the second half, we were more competitive than in the first, that's why we managed to score the goal.”
The early days of Martín Anselmi
“As everyone knows, we've only recently started playing this way and working with the coach, but everyone has to do their best and understand what the game is asking for at each moment. We all have to improve and work to understand what the coach wants, but this desire to improve is great.”
Eager for the second leg
“Despite the tie, we can still qualify to the knockout stage. We have another 90 minutes to reach victory. We're giving it all in the game in Rome.”
