FC Porto beat AFS (2-0) in matchday 26 of the league

FC Porto returned home and to victories by beating AFS 2-0 on matchday 26 of the league. Rodrigo Mora and Fábio Vieira scored the goals that earned the three points on the eve of the international break. With this result, the Dragons now have 53 points and are three behind Benfica, who are second in the table with two games in hand.

Martín Anselmi sent in Eustáquio, Fábio Vieira, Rodrigo Mora and Pepê back into the starting team, removing Otavio, Martim Fernandes, André Franco and Gonçalo Borges, and the number 10 only needed three minutes to cause shivers from long range. After João Mário found Samu and the Spanish forward sent out another warning, Diogo Costa made the perfect stop to a dangerous counter-attack from the opponent and Rodrigo Mora opened the scoreboard in reply, after Pepê's shot and Ochoa's incomplete save (1-0).

The visitors tried to hit back on the half-hour mark, although without any danger, João Mário again put Samu through and the number 9 again missed the target, this time with his head - a scenario that would be repeated four minutes later, when a great play ended in the post of the North goal. Until half time, there was still time for Ochoa to stop Samu from scoring and for Fábio Vieira to unleash a shot that grazed the far post.

The 22 players that returned for the second half soon became 21, as Nacho received his second yellow for a foul on Francisco Moura and was sent-off early. The blue and whites took advantage of their numerical superiority to extend their lead just after the hour mark, thanks to a volley from Fábio Vieira that ended in the back of the net (2-0).

With William Gomes and André Franco replacing Rodrigo Mora and Pepê, Ochoa again got the better of Samu in a one-on-one and, in the home area, Diogo Costa responded with a fantastic save. Tomás Pérez and Danny Namaso replaced Alan Varela and Fábio Vieira, Eustáquio and Samu continued to give the opposing goalkeeper a hard time, William Gomes did his best to score on his first match at home, the Canadian international gave way to Deniz Gül and referee Fábio Veríssimo ended the 2-0 win.
