FC Porto beat Gil Vicente 2-0 and now has 6 points in the League

With a pleasant support from the stands of Estádio Cidade de Barcelos, FC Porto beat Gil Vicente in the second matchday of the Portuguese League and remains at the top of the table with six points. Victor Froholdt, who scored his first goal in the championship, and Pepê, who scored his second goal in two matches, built the final 2-0 score.

Playing in Minho, but with the usual vibrant support similar to that of Estádio do Dragão, the blue and whites controlled possession in the early stages of the match, putting their opponents on alert with quick combinations in the final third and taking the lead after 20 minutes. On the left, Gabri Veiga took a corner-kick to the near post, where Victor Froholdt appeared to head the ball into Andrew's net and then showed the crest on his chest in front of the celebrating fans.

Samu, in response to a cross from Pepê, drew applause from the fans with a shot that went over the bar before being replaced 30 minutes in by Luuk de Jong, due to injury, and, as the final five minutes of the opening half approached, the home team created danger through a good set piece that was cleared off the line by Victor Froholdt and prompted protests from Diogo Costa for an alleged foul.

At half time, the scoreboard showed a 1-0 lead for Francesco Farioli's men, but the numbers were soon to change. Just a minute and a half into the second half, Gabri Veiga drifted to the left and passed to Zaidu, who ran at full speed behind him and crossed back into the heart of the area, a prime position from which Pepê scored the second goal of the night.

Gabri Veiga and Borja Sainz were replaced by Eustáquio and William Gomes - who had to receive quick treatment 74 minute as he was elbowed by Konan inside the area, a play that went unpunished - and later, 77 minutes, Zé Pedro and Rodrigo Mora went in. The youngster, in an individual move, forced Andrew to a good save 84 minutes in and came close to scoring again in the last moments of regular time. With no further changes to the score, the 2-0 remained until Ricardo Baixinho blew the final whistle and the three points went to the Dragons.
