Diogo Costa praised his FC Porto for being strong enough to “suffer” in their victory against Estoril (1-0)
FC Porto regained their lead in the league, three points ahead of Sporting, after beating Estoril (1-0) on Sunday at Estádio do Dragão, in the 12th matchday of the competition. After the match, Diogo Costa gave “credit to Estoril” for the way they created “difficulties” for the blue and whites, but they knew how to “suffer” and once again showed that they have “a great attitude”. “We will have a very busy schedule in December and it will not be easy to manage fatigue, but if we have this commitment, we will win. And we count on the support of our fans, because with them we are stronger”, concluded the blue and white captain.
Winning also means knowing how to suffer
“Estoril is a very mobile team, they play a fluid game and don't opt for a fixed style of play, which is what created difficulties for us and took us by surprise. We have to give credit to Estoril, but we were strong enough to suffer and that's what Porto is all about. There are games where we won't play well, but we have to win them. That's what we did today. We knew how to suffer, we didn't concede any goals and the team has a great attitude. We are all together in this fight.”
Only three goals conceded in the league
“The credit doesn't just go to me, it goes to the whole team. We're all in this together and everyone deserves credit. Everyone works really well, we respect each other a lot and we know the mentality we need to have every day in training.”
Former goalkeeper Francesco Farioli
“It gives me a lot of responsibility in many concepts that we have to apply, but I give credit to the manager, because you can clearly see his style of play and the way he trains.”
A very demanding December
“We have a very busy schedule in December and it won’t be easy to manage fatigue, but if we have this commitment, we will win. And we count on the support of our fans, because with them we are stronger.”
