FC Porto lost to Vitória SC (1-3) in the quarter finals

FC Porto lost to Vitória SC (1-3) and said goodbye to the League Cup in the quarter finals. Gabri Veiga scored the only goal for the blue and whites, who will now focus all their attention on the 13th matchday of the championship, scheduled for 20h30 on Sunday in Tondela.

Francesco Farioli changed nine players from the team that started against Estoril Praia, and Gabri Veiga, one of the new additions, scored in the eighth minute. Pablo Rosario sent the number 10 deep, who controlled the ball with his chest and chipped it over Castillo (1-0) before falling down complaining of pain following the play.

In the 21st minute, FC Porto could have had a golden opportunity to extend their lead when João Mendes blocked a ball sent into the area by Prpić with his arm, but VAR Tiago Martins called referee Hélder Carvalho to the monitor and the pair decided to overturn the decision to award a penalty and signal an alleged foul from Alan Varela at the start of the play. In the final stages of the first half (36m), Pablo Rosario brought down Camara in the area and Nélson Oliveira tied from the penalty spot (1-1).

Rodrigo Mora and Samu came on at the start of the second half, replacing Gabri Veiga and Yann Karamoh. The striker deflected a cross from Zaidu at the near post, which Ángel Alarcón was unable to convert (49m), and the visitors took the lead shortly afterwards (1-2, 53m).

After the opponents had a goal disallowed for a foul by Ndoye on Pablo Rosario, William Gomes and Pepê replaced Borja Sainz and Alan Varela and saw Rodrigo Mora come close to tying the match with a shot from the edge of the box (70m). Francesco Farioli used up his substitutions in the 76th minute, replacing Alberto Costa with Martim Fernandes, and the visitors sealed the final result with a penalty at the start of the last ten minutes (1-3).
