After Monterrey, the new focus is Mexico City
FC Porto is strengthening its presence in Mexico, a strategic market for the Club’s international growth, with the opening of a new Dragon Force academy in Mexico City.
Developed in partnership with Miguel Layún and Highlands International School, the project represents another step in bringing FC Porto closer to Mexican football and consolidating its global expansion strategy.
Following the opening of Dragon Force by FC Porto in Monterrey, this new academy confirms the Club’s ambition to deepen its connection with one of the most football-passionate markets in the Americas, bringing FC Porto’s methodology, values and identity to new communities.
FC Porto’s Chief Strategy Officer, Michele Montesi, underlined the strategic importance of this new stage: “This project represents another step in FC Porto’s international affirmation and in strengthening our presence in a strategic market such as Mexico. Through Dragon Force, we want to bring the Club’s methodology, values and identity to new communities, creating opportunities for young athletes and bringing FC Porto closer to a country with a deep passion for football.”
The new Dragon Force by FC Porto will be located in Mexico City and integrated into Highlands International School, a leading educational institution in Latin America. The academy aims to provide young athletes with a distinctive training experience, combining sporting development, personal growth and academic excellence.
For Tom Hampson, Director of Highlands International School, this partnership represents an important step in strengthening the institution’s educational and sporting project. “It is an honour to welcome a club with the size and history of FC Porto. We believe this collaboration will offer our students and young athletes a unique opportunity for growth, both on and off the pitch, through an internationally recognised methodology,” he said.
Ricardo Frey-Ramos, Dragon Force Director, also emphasised the importance of this new international stage: “We found partners with great ambition, quality and vision for the future. With the right tools, dedication and a well-defined identity like ours, we are convinced that this project can make a meaningful contribution to the development of more young players in Mexico,” he said.
The FC Porto Dragon Force in Mexico City will welcome around 400 students, bringing the total number of students enrolled in the international schools to 3,500. Overall, approximately 9,000 students train daily with Dragon Force. This new school strengthens the Club’s international presence and aims to establish itself as a benchmark in the development of young athletes, promoting FC Porto’s values and building an ever-stronger bridge between Portugal and Mexico through football.
