FC Porto’s strengthened presence in Mexico will count on significant support: Miguel Layún, former FC Porto player, will become ambassador for Dragon Force by FC Porto in the country.

A prominent figure in Mexican football and deeply connected to FC Porto, Miguel Layún takes on this role at a time when the Club continues to consolidate its presence in Mexico, a strategic market for its international expansion and for engaging new communities of fans, young athletes and local partners.

With a career marked by important spells in European football and with the Mexican national team, Layún represents a natural bridge between FC Porto and Mexican football. At the Club, which he represented between 2015 and 2017, he made 80 appearances, scoring 11 goals and providing 22 assists, leaving a sporting and emotional connection that now gains a new expression through this project.

“For me, it is very special to be part of this project with FC Porto, a club that marked my career and represents excellence in player development,” said Miguel Layún.

His comments come in the context of the opening of the new Dragon Force by FC Porto academy in Mexico City, developed in partnership with Highlands International School. After Monterrey, this new stage reinforces the Club’s commitment to the country and confirms its ambition to bring FC Porto’s methodology, values and identity to one of the most football-passionate markets in the Americas.

Miguel Layún also highlighted the importance of the project for the development of youth football in Mexico and for strengthening ties between the two countries: “We want to create real opportunities for young Mexican players to grow in a competitive, educational environment with strong values. This is only the beginning of a journey that we believe can create new opportunities for youth football in Mexico.”

As ambassador for Dragon Force by FC Porto in Mexico, Miguel Layún will play an important role in bringing the Club closer to the local community and Mexican football, helping strengthen FC Porto’s presence in the country and giving greater visibility to a project that combines sporting development, personal growth and FC Porto identity.
