Francisco Conceição and Mehdi Taremi scored the goals in the home match against Leixões (2-1)

FC Porto beat Leixões (2-1), at Estádio do Dragão, this Saturday, for matchday 3 of Group D of the League Cup. Francisco Conceição (7m) and Mehdi Taremi (85m), from a penalty, scored the goals of the blue and whites, who end the group stage in the second place, with three points, three behind Estoril.

With nine changes in the team in comparison to the one that started the classic against Sporting, for the championship, FC Porto started on top and gained the lead seven minutes in, in a typical move for Francisco Conceição: on the right wing, the winger cut inside and gave no chances to Stefanovic. Not giving up, Leixões reached the tie through Fabinho, who made it count from a penalty, after Marko Grujic tackled Paulité (14m).

Before referee José Bessa signalled the break, Alhassan Wakaso was shown the second yellow card and the following red, leaving the team from Matosinhos outnumbered for the entire second half (41m). Despite having one more man on the pitch, the blue and whites felt difficulties to counter the defensive organization of Leixões, until Sérgio Conceição sent in the players that worked on the 2-1: Evanilson suffered the penalty and Mehdi Taremi took it, setting the final result at Estádio do Dragão (85m).
