William Gomes came off the bench to play a decisive role in FC Porto’s comeback against FC Twente (2-1)
FC Porto beat FC Twente 2-1, at home this Sunday in a pre-season friendly at Estádio do Dragão. Brought on for the second half by Francesco Farioli, William Gomes set up Samu’s tie and successfully scored the penalty he won after being tackled. Happy with his individual performance and with a result that was “important for our development”, the young Brazilian winger assured that the players are “working” to put into practice everything the coach asks of them.
Came off the bench to decide the game
“I managed to go in and play well, but this is a process and this was only our third game, we are still assimilating what the coach wants. We are gradually improving, but there are things we still need to work on.”
Francesco Farioli’s early days
“Training has been very intense and everyone trains with great intensity. The coach demands a lot from us and has good ideas. We are working to do everything he asks of us.”
The victory against FC Twente
“We are training to improve, but it's always good to win and convince. It’s an important result in our evolution.”
The same William Gomes as always
“I will be the same William as when I wasn't getting minutes. I will be hard-working and give everything for the team.”
