Diogo Costa says “it was worth it for the attitude and for believing until the end”, after the tie in Plzeň (1-1)
FC Porto won a point in the Czech Republic after tying on Thursday against FC Viktoria Plzeň (1-1), in the 7th matchday of the Europa League group stage. Diogo Costa once again captained the Dragons, who played “more with their hearts than their heads,” but the truth is that “it was worth it for the attitude and for believing until the end.” The blue and white goalkeeper did not forget his teammate Samu, who missed a penalty: “We all make mistakes, I also made a mistake today. When one makes a mistake, we all make a mistake. When we suffer, we all suffer. And when we score, we all score. That's the message I want to convey. We are with Samu and we want the best for him, because what's best for him is best for the team.”
What was missing in the last third
“You make it seem like today's game was horrible. In recent games, we've been missing something, maybe more effectiveness in passing and shooting, things we have to keep working on. We continue to believe, because that's what FC Porto is made of.”
Too much heart and not enough head
“We lacked a little patience, we played too much with our hearts and not enough with our heads. It would have been worse if we had played slowly, but what we lacked was composure at the edge of the box and inside the box. It was worth it for the attitude and for believing until the end. We know that in a competition like this, everything is important, but we continue to believe until the end.”
Everyone with Samu
“We all make mistakes, I made a mistake today too. When one person makes a mistake, we all make a mistake. When one suffers, we all suffer. And when one scores, we all score. That’s the message I want to convey. We are with Samu and we want the best for him, because what’s best for him is best for the team.”
Qualifying for the next stage
“Obviously, we want to win every game. We know it's very difficult, but we train for that. Days like today will happen, but even so, we managed to get a draw. It's still up to us, and we continue to believe.”
