Gabri Veiga expressed his determination to “give his all in the final stretch of the season” following FC Porto’s 3-0 win over Moreirense FC
Scorer of the first goal in the 3-0 victory, which he dedicated to Thiago Silva, “who is going through a very difficult time” and to whom he sent “lots of strength”, Gabri Veiga felt that “the team started well” against Moreirense FC, managed to “impose their style of play” and “didn’t give the opposition any chances to create danger”. With no room for distractions, the Spanish midfielder is focused on “doing everything to win the eight remaining matches” in the league and “going all out in the final stretch of the season”: “I want to help the team more because I have great confidence in my abilities and I’m very demanding”.
Victory with a special dedication
“First and foremost, I want to dedicate this victory to Thiago Silva, who is going through a very difficult time. It was the best comfort we could give him. We’re sending him lots of strength from here. We played against a team that came into the match without much pressure regarding their league position, but we started well, just as we have in recent games, and managed to impose our style of play. We didn’t give them any chances to create danger, we managed another important clean sheet and even scored three goals.”
Focus turned inside
“I don’t care about Sporting or the lead. We have to focus on ourselves; we know there are eight finals left, it’s down to us, and whatever the others do, whether they want to postpone the matches or not, is none of our business. There are eight finals left, eight more victories that we can reach and that’s what we’re fighting for.”
Room for improvement
“I’m nowhere near my best, I’ve got plenty of room for improvement. I’m not too happy with my stats; I need to help the team more because I have a lot of faith in my abilities and I’m very demanding of myself. I’m happy with the goal, but I need to give more.”
The mindset for the decisive moments
“It’s my first goal since getting my new ankle, after that incident here against Vitória SC, but everything’s fine now and I hope to start scoring more goals and helping the team more, because the final stretch of the season is approaching and we have to give it our all.”
