Comments from Jan Bednarek following FC Porto 1-1 Nottingham Forest
Having just played “a very good match” in which FC Porto “created plenty of chances and played good football”, but came away with a tie against Nottingham Forest (1-1), Jan Bednarek regretted the “bad luck” of the own goal conceded and recalled that “the Blue and White family sticks together through thick and thin” before expressing “confidence” and assuring: “We’re not afraid, we’re a formidable team”.
The work to be done for the second leg
“We played a very good game, created plenty of chances and played good football, and I think all the fans at the stadium enjoyed watching us. It was disappointing to concede a goal in the way we did, it was very unlucky. We ended up losing confidence for a few moments, but we managed to get back to our best and created more chances, I think we just lacked a bit of confidence. We have to work and improve on that, because we had plenty of opportunities and failed to convert them.”
A family through thick and thin
“It’s normal to feel some frustration, but we had to put that behind us. We tried to support Martim Fernandes, who was involved in the incident and then went on to get injured. We’re the Blue and White family and we support one another through good times and bad. That’s why we’re so strong this season, because we support one another at all times, and we did it again.”
Unshakable confidence
“We’ve already shown that we can play good football, both at home and on difficult pitches such as those of VfB Stuttgart, Benfica or Sporting. We’re not afraid and we’re confident in what we do, which is why we’re a formidable team.”
